Kandinsky Inspired Art

Mrs. Shield’s Special Projects’ class created shape art inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky.  The art pieces are proudly on display on a bulletin board in the front hallway of Carver.  Enjoy learning about Wassily Kandinsky and see our completed art pieces in the slide show below.

Carver Photography Club – Week 04 – Viewpoint/Perspective

This week students learned how your viewpoint or perspective can affect a photograph. Your viewpoint can greatly affect whatever message you are trying to convey in a photograph. Students were not allowed to shoot at eye level this week. They had to shoot from high or low vantage points to show how these perspectives affect the image.

Little Rock Zoo Visit

Today, keepers from the Little Rock Zoo visited our fourth graders during 21st Century After School.  This was made possible through a partnership between the LR Zoo and AR Children’s Hospital.  Fourth graders learned about the various food groups and the importance of a balanced diet.  Several fun animals came along to demonstrate the different characteristics of  a carnivore, herbivore and omnivore.  Students also had the opportunity to “create a creature.”  As a special bonus, each student received a pass to the zoo!
